If you want to save music and other media on your PS3 save the media on a storage device (USB stick ect) that is compatible with the ps3 then connect it to your ps3.
Depending on what type of data it is go to the correct category (for pictures and photos go on the Photo column on the XMB) The device should apear near the top.
Press triangle on the device then select 'Show all' then locate the file. Once you have found it press triangle on the file and select copy.
The file should now be saved on you hard drive and accesable from the XMB.

Is PS3 doesn't work any-more you can swap the HDD's or you can plug both drives form the two PS3's to the computer and copy the files over. If you have stuff on there from the PS Store you could just link your PS3's and download the files again onto your other PS3.
Internally, yes. But you still need an internet connection to have acces to online play our the PlayStation store. You could use a wirless connection or a ethernet cable.
walmart
the ps3 store i use it directly on my ps3, i am not sure if you can use it online though The PS3 PlayStation store is available only for the PS3 consoles that have online capability and it is the preferred way to download to your PS3. If your PS3 does not have an internet connection your PS3 can not access or use the PlayStation store . I know procedures exist to allow update information to be downloaded from a computer and moved to the PS3. The best source for procedures is the PlayStation network support at related link
