open up Invedit, select "open from" and chose the world you want to invedit, and search for items you want and drag them into your inventory (the boxes). then click save to world # (whatever you want)
You do not buy minecraft beta. If you have already purchased a minecraft account all you have to do is sign into the launcher (the first window that pops up before loading the game itself) and click on "edit profile". That will open up another window with different options to select. under "select versions" click on "allow old beta versions (2010-2011)", all beta versions of mincraft should then be avilaible under the "use version" selection.
