A little under 4,700 MB. The disc needs some space for the finalization process.
DVD by far. A DVD can store 4.7 gigabytes of data. A floppy disk can store 1.44 megabytes of data. 1000 megabytes = 1 gigabyte.

when we're talking about DVD movies thinking in terms of how many bytes is pretty rediculous. a very short DVD quality movie will be measured at least in tens of mega-bytes (Mb). one megabyte is equal to 1,048,576 bytes. so, if you were, for instance, thinking in terms of how many bytes there were in a full-length DVD quality feature film then you would be talking about gigabytes(Gb). one Gb is equal to 1,073,741,824 bytes. you need between 1 and 3 gigs of space for a whole DVD worth of information.
only one layer is used for 8.5 mb. Two layers would be used for 8.5 gb
A single DVD is capable of holding 4813 megabytes of data. Blu Ray disks, on the other hand, can hold 25600mb.
Single Layer DVD 4.37 GB Dual Layer DVD 7.95 GB Single sided single layer DVD 8.74 GB Dual sided dual layer DVD 15.9 GB CD from 650 to 900 MB Floppy Disc from 175 kB to 240 MB
A DVD stores 4700 MB which is 4.7 Gigs a DVD Movies is usually around 700 MB or so. 4700/700 MB and your looking at a few hours of video. Hope this helped :)
In my experience downloading movies and dvd's... there is somewhere between 700mb to 875mb per movie/dvd....although today dvd's/movies can contain 1024mb which is roughly 1gb. I'd say is safe to bet dvd/movie downloads to contain around 700mb to just over 1024mb or 1gb+or-. remember...1gb is roughly around 1024mb...from my knowledge. Please correct me if I'm wrong cause that would surely suck to be misinformed.
I have DVD with size of 6.8 MB. I want to write the same in to normal DVD whose size is just 4.7 GB. Is there any tool/software to write the 6.9 GB data in to 4.7GB DVD without loosing Audio options(DTS,Dolby),Subtitles, extra features etc? Basically i want to make copy of the 6.9GB DVD. But i have only 4.7 GB DVD only. Please help...
A CD-ROM can hold up to 700MB (megabytes), while a DVD ROM can hold up to 4.7GB (gigabytes, one gigabyte = 1024, megabytes). CD-ROMs are slightly cheaper to manufacture.
The number of photos that can fit on a 4.7 GB DVD depends on the size of each photo. If we assume an average photo size of 4 MB, then you could fit approximately 1175 photos on a 4.7 GB DVD. This calculation is based on the fact that 1 GB is equal to 1024 MB, so 4.7 GB is equal to 4812.8 MB. Dividing 4812.8 MB by 4 MB per photo gives us around 1175 photos.
the formatted capacity is always different (and less) from the discs stated capacity, so heres a chart based on 1 gb = 1024mb 4.7gb DVD = unformatted: approx 4812mb formatted: 4392.96mb
