1. Choose Curtains And Blinds

The curtains chosen do not need to be dark-colored to create a black-out treatment. Special curtains with a thick light-proof backing are sold in home furnishing stores. These types of curtains may be found for low prices from online warehouses and auction sites, such as eBay or Amazon. Blinds are not absolutely necessary, but those who want to open the curtains sometimes without receiving direct light will likely want blinds. If money is an issue, the best choice for blinds are Roman blinds, usually available at about $10 for one set. A good curtain or drapery rod should be chosen for the proper length of the window.

2. Install Tracks & Hooks

Blinds will come with installation instructions; these should always be completed before adding curtain rods. Follow the directions exactly for the type of blinds chosen. People who have small children should cut the strings on blinds so that they are not long enough for children to grab and choke on; many toddlers have or nearly have died this way.
