Is the Xbox 360 controller compatible with the classic Xbox system?

As far I know the Xbox 360 Controller will not work with Regular Xbox.

Here are my reasons why i believe it to be true:

1. Xbox 360 Controller is Wireless which has to connect to Xbox 360 by pressing the "Xbox Guide" button.

2. Xbox 360 Console connects to the controller by pressing the "release the connect"

3. Regular Xbox does not have this feature and will not be able to recognize the controller.

4. I am not sure if wired xbox 360 controller will work, but i don't think so because of different capabilities software and older xbox console will not recognize it.

5. Good News, there are plenty of YouTube videos that describe how to connect xbox 360 controller to PC

No. The controllers for an Xbox 360, unlike those of the classic Xbox, are only available as wireless devices. The Xbox doesn't provide any provision for these wireless devices.

Potentially, you could do some cable-splicing to create a 360-classic interface. However, the Xbox probably would not recognise the 360 controller when connected, at least without a custom firmware and a modchip. In essence, no, 360 controllers will not function on a classic Xbox.

No you cannot.

It's the same as 360 games won't work in the original.

Thus, ANY 360 hardware won't work in the original.
