I am assuming that Trills is the bird that belongs to the afro-guy in the forest and that this bird is in a circled area that has helath potion and Lantern oil. If so, there will be a small box next to the two cauldrons holding the potion and oil. Walk up to the small box and a caption will appear at the bottom of the screen that says something like "Press 'A' to check". Press the correct button and a new screen will pop-up. This screen will allow you to select how many Rupees to drop into the box. Adter you select how many to drop press "Done" and you will go back to the in-game screen. That is how you pay Trills the bird for what you bought.
