What do you do in final fantasy 2 in the soul of rebirth?

In Soul of Rebirth, you take control of four characters who died during the events of Final Fantasy 2, they are in the afterlife. The characters are Prince Scott, who was not a previously playable character, and Minwu, Josef and Ricard, who were. Those latter three retain the stats they had when you controlled them.

Believing themselves to be in 'hell' due to all the demons, they fight their way through to a settlement occupied by some other deceased characters. Here they wonder, not believing children should be here, if they're in hell.

They agree to fight off the monsters and see if they can find the source. Eventually they confront The Emperor once more in what they believe is Pandaemonium, only to learn they are actually in heaven, the demons they fought earlier were fallen angels.

This 'Light' Emperor ascended here when his mortal form was slain and his dark half went to hell. He offers the four eternal peace if they forgive him, however they realise this half is just as tainted and evil as his 'dark' side, and they fight. At the very same moment, Firion and his friends are fighting the Dark Emperor, and the two are slain at the same moment, saving heaven as well as the mortal realm.

In the ending sequence, the same scene plays as from the original ending, but played from the dead party's viewpoint as they watch in spirit form, before going to their eternal rest.
