What is so good about Final Fantasy VII?

The soundtrack of the game is nothing short of magnificent and the cinematic sequences, while not impressive by contemporary standards, are still far beyond anything possible on previous systems. It is also worthwhile to note that the standard playtime for FF7 is significantly longer than previous games, which increases replay value.

Many consider FF7 to surpass later Final Fantasy games due to the edgier visual style and subject matter. Additionally, the materia growth system and limit breaks gave FF7 an advantage over subsequent FF games in terms of gameplay.

It brought so much to final fantasy it was to first to truly hit the 3D world even though its graphics were still somewhat 2Dish but even that factor made it look good. Its storyline was the best of the ff's that so far have been made, it introduced a very nice cast with all unique attitudes and there own goal that sometimes causes the plot to change dramatically! Its ending was unforgettable, its characters, the whole game was nearly perfect! A gamefan magazine quoted "quite possibly the greatest game ever made" that tells alot.
