VMU or (visual memory unit) its the screen of a memory card that you put in the controller. it also lets you play little sh*tty games on it. but there you are
the vmu was used as a memory card, a screen for your controller so you could see things that other people could not see in the game, and a portable game player.
original price was 39.99 for a controller
No the only way you can buy a dreamcast controller is on the internet. Or you can buy it from pawn shops if you get lucky.
game controllers,small screen savers,and of course,a dreamcast
VMUs, Rumble packs, Microphones, etc.
Internally, controller ports on the Dreamcast are handled by a separate PCB. If the Dreancast will not detect a controller in any port, and is not recognising memory cards, then there may be an issue with the controller port PCB. This could be as simple as the internal connector cable being loose, or could be a failure of the PCB compleatly. You may wish to open the Dreamcast unit and check the connections of the PCB and the mainboard, if this fails to help the problem then a replacement PCB may be necessary. However, due to the low cost of Dreamcast on the second hand market it may be worthwhile buying another unit.
Yes, the Dreamcast has no way of saving games internaly and saving games requires the used of a memory card or VMU. There are two main options for Dreamcast memory. The cheapest option is to buy a third party memory card, these save data and have no other function. The official memory cards, known as Visual Memory Units (VMU), have a number of additional features. They have a screen and buttons and act like mini consoles. They can be used to play mini games and can be used to manage save data independent of the Dreamcast console. They can also be linked together to trade saves and play mini games in multi player. While plugged into the controller, VMU also act like a screen on the controller and can be used by some games to offer additional information.
There are no dreamcast emulators that will run dreamcast ROMs. The dreamcast is cd-based, so you can either download an emulator like Chankast, and use actual dreamcast CDs (you can get them for a couple of dollars/pounds) or download dreamcast ISOs
If the unit is not responding to controller inputs try changing the port that the controller is in. If this does not resolve the problem try using a different controller. If no port appears to work and the controller is known to be working then the issue is internal. The most likely problem will be a loose or faulty controller port PCB.
Try using the USB lead to connect the controller to the PS3.
You go to multiplayer then you go to split screen then turn on second controller then press x then turn on third controller then press x
The Dreamcast cannot emulate itself, however, it is possible to obtain a Dreamcast emulator for a PC. Various emulators, such as Chankast Alpha, exist.
