Either the brake light switch has gone bad, or the rubber piece that hits the switch has fallen out (most likely). If you look under your dash, on the brake pedal arm, you should see a switch behind it. There's a hole in front of this switch, in the arm, that normally has a rubber piece in it. This rubber piece commonly falls out as the cars get old - if it's fallen out, you could try wrapping electrical tape around the arm to cover up the hole. Not terribly descriptive, but it's the best I can do. If the rubber piece is still there, the switch is most likely At Fault.
