You can name your character anything you want, as long as it follows Blizzard's naming policy.

Blizzards rules for naming your characters are pretty simple. Your name cannot have any racial or ethnic overtones, cannot be sexual in nature, cannot be extremly violent in nature, and cannot refer to your sexual orientation. It also cannot be harrassing or defamatory, cannot refer to Blizzard employees either directly or masked, and mild references to certain parts of the human anatomy. They also cannot advertise organizations or websites.

Make a Warlock

(WoW... that's too simple of an Answer... Let me help you out more... It takes alot of skill to use a Warlock as a New Player because you'll seem to die alot because you won't be able to grasp the concept of aggro. Cloth isn't that great at protecting you so with that said that leaves the Mage and Priest out aswell... If you're new I would suggest either a Paladin, Rogue, Warrior, Druid, and if you get to 55 and hate the class you are you can get a Death Knight... If you're not new a Warlock would be a great challenge for you and I'd say go for it... being a noob and using a Warlock as my frist toon made me a stronger player my Warlock is happily level 80.)

There are several different types of characters to play. They can be divided into 4 main types: Caster DPS, Melee DPS, Healer, and Tank.

Tanks have high health and armor and generate lots of aggro (hate) from mobs. It is the tanks job to keep the mobs busy and off the other players. Warriors, Paladins, Druids, and to a lesser extent Death Knights and Shaman can all tank.

Healers have the sometimes difficult task of healing the group, keeping them alive by restoring health when they are wounded. Priests, Shaman, Druids and Paladins all can heal. Some are better at group healing than others while others are better at single target (tank) healing.

Melee DPS are damage dealers. While the tank is busy keeping the mobs attention, and the healers are healing, melee dps are right up there with the tank doing massive damage. Warriors, Druids, Paladins, Death Knights, Shaman, and Rogues are all melee DPS.

Caster DPS are damage dealers just like melee, however they use magic to deal their damage. Caster dps can put out some massive damage as well as large amounts of AoE (Area of Effect) damage, dealing damage to multiple mobs at once. Priests, Shaman, Druids, Mages and Warlocks are all caster dps.

There is one final class that is in a role all by itself, the Hunter. The Hunter is a ranged dps, meaning it does its damage from range like casters, but it is physical damage. They use guns, crossbows, and bows to do damage along with their pet.
