The Distinguishing Unit Insignia (DUI or DI) pin was worn by enlistedmen and officers on their dress uniform and these are somewhat easier to find. The DUI for the 506 PIR demands a higher value than the pins of other units.

The pin-on metal DUI for the 506th PIR is still in production, as the 506th is still an active regiment of the Army. Military surplus stores may have them, as well as militaria and military surplus dealers online. The actual cloth patches or metal DUI dating from the Second World War will be more difficult to come by, as described above, but if one is looking for a current production metal pin-on DUI, they are readily available.
