All other branches of the Army support Combat Arms
Infantryis the branch of an army that fights on foot - soldiers specifically trained to engage, fight, and defeat the enemy in face-to-face combat; and thus bear the brunt of warfare, and suffer the greatest number of casualties. Historically, as the oldest branch of the combat arms, the infantry are the backbone of a modern army, and continually undergo training that is more physically stressful and psychologically demanding than that of any other branch of the combat arms, or of the army, emphasizing teamwork in the deployment of spontaneous, sustained aggression.- wikipedia
The term "combat troops" is confusing to civilians (and some military personnel too) because the term has been abused for so long. All US Army personnel are combat troops with specialized branches that specialize into specific combat jobs, formerly (which is why they used to go to BOOT CAMP; formerly known as Basic Combat Infantryman's Training) known as the combat arms branch: Armor (tanks), Artillery (cannons), and the Infantry (formerly fighting men/foot soldiers). During the late 1990 the US Army "may" have added other branches to that specialized combat arms system. Rumor control stated that the aviation branch was added to the combat arms system. The combat arms of the US Army are the conventional fighting branches of the US Army (or was during the Viet War days). US Combat troops, along with specialized troops were deployed to SOUTH Vietnam in 1955. CONVENTIONAL forces (those combat arms men previously discussed above were deployed in 1965).
The US Army is the oldest and biggest branch of military in service, they are also the largest land combat force.
Infantry and field artillery are two of the combat arms of the US army. Infantry are foot soldiers, and field artillery are easily movable cannon. Other combat arms include cavalry, armor, combat engineers, coast artillery, and signals.
Try soldier front, or combat arms.
The hishest rank on combat arms is GOA, General Of the Army. Only 1 player can hold this rank at a time, the player with the highest total amount of exp at any time will gain GOA.
On a regular army base (i.e. not in a combat zone) combat personnel do not carry weapons on their person at all times. However, if the base is in a combat zone, all personnel are required to carry weapons. These arms can be anything from a personal weapon (pistol) to a combat ready device or assault rifle. It depends solely on the weaponry that is assigned to the combat personnel.

This is something you have to decide for yourself. Both services offer combat arms occupations. Which one is better for you is something you're going to have to figure out on your own.
Whatever badge/ribbon you are awarded, you rate to wear it, no matter what branch of service you are in.
