Duck tape was first created and made in 1942 by Johnson and Johnson. The original use was to keep moisture out of ammunition cases for the military. Because it was waterproof people referred to the tape as "duck tape." Also the tape was made using cotton duck. Military personnel quickly found that the tape could be used to fix guns, jeeps, aircraft, and many other things. After the war the tape was used in the new housing industry to connect heating and air conditioning duct work together. Soon, the color changed from army green to silver to match the duct work and people started to call it "Duck Tape." Things changed in the 1970's when the tape was placed in shrink wrap and could be stacked on shelves. Soon people began to use the tape for everything.
