Well duh I mean like 95% of all minecraft users get on a server some time in their lives if it is not all they play... so YES it is "safe to go on an open server on minecraft."
you need to download explorer, open,go to apps, click minecraft, enter directory, name ur skin char.png, open minecraft, enjoy!
you have to go to start, click run, click your .minecraft folder, take the downloaded mod (it has to be zipped) click open archive, then with the .minecraft folder, you find bin go in, and open minecraft's archive, then you move the files in the mod archive folder to the minecraft archives. (some things might be wrong, but that's because i used pure memory to answer this, and i have a bad memory. )
That happened when i tried to do it on my computer at school when the school has blocked it you can not get on but you can ask you librarian or a teacher why they blocked it and why they did.
Minecraft accounts are not things that can be opened. If you wanted to CREATE a minecraft account, go to minecraft.net, click the Register link in the top-right, and fill out the required info.
Go onto Google, type toomanyitems 1.7.3, click the link for the Minecraft Forums. Download it and open it. Next, you need to open the start menu, then search %appdata%. Open up you're .minecraft folder, and then open the bin folder. Then right click on the minecraft.jar file, and then open with -> Winrar archiver. Then just drag the files from the folder you downloaded into the folder you just opened. Then close both, then open minecraft.

MineEdit is a separate mod of Minecraft. It is not assessable on or in Minecraft itself. Open the downloaded folder and extract its files. Then go into that folder and look for a MineEdit Application file. Just double click on that and it will open. For the inventory editing to work you must not be in-game. After editing save your inventory and open the world.
Click start, type %appdata%, click on roaming, .minecraft, then texturepacks. Or, go on minecraft, go to the main menu, click on texture packs and click open texture pack folder.
If you don't have Minecraft bought, then buy it, then open minecraft, and it will update to 1.0.
Windows XP: Open the start menu, click "Run" then type %appdata%. It will open a folder with Roaming in it. Open that, and then click on the .minecraft file. Windows 7: Open the start menu, and then type %appdata% in the search bar. It will open a folder with Roaming in it. Open that, and then click on the .minecraft file.
