Why is Kingdom Hearts so confusing?

People are often confused by the story and concept of kingdom hearts, due to the complex meaning of the terms which we find simple. For example, in the Kingdom Hearts series, a heart, can represent many things, while in reality, we usually describe it as an organ functioning our body. Another reason people get extremely confused, is the story, although if you play the game thoroughly, it will be less confusing. The games can also take place at different times, as shown when Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep was revealed, although the plot was ten years before the original Kingdom Hearts. Finally, one of the simplest answers, is the the game has not revealed all it's secrets yet. As the games are produced, some secrets are kept hidden, and can confusing events are usually explained in future games.
