You have either dropped it too many times or spilt liquid on it. you have to get it fixed if this happens

I had problem similar to this. If it's not lit at all, the problem may be in your lighting of the screen. If it is just very dim, the light sensor is malfunctioning. Also, it will dim if your running or headlights are on.
The year of the aurora is important...i have a 2002...just bought 4/16/2011. The dash lites are a bit dim. A common problem for these... I found a specialty -dash cluster in my answer sites...google ' year' aurora dash cluster lites dim...the electronics shops came up...they wanted $ 169- $189 to repair gages...i don't berlieve the bulbs are replacable on an individual basis...

I have (had) the same problem with my 2001 Pontiac sunfire. After doing research online, one explanation is that the wires in the wiring harness are so small that they easily corrode. On mine I tested the wires from the fuses to the lights and moved around the wires and after that they would work for a bit.
