Well for starters, "First Nations" refers to the Aboriginal peoples of Canada (with the exception of the Inuit and Métis), just so you know. First Nations art is very tribal, mostly animal forms and symbols that represent spirits. All of the artwork that I have seen is in black, white, and red... so it has very stark contrasts and is more graphic in nature than European Art, if you were to compare it.
You should check out the Vancouver Inuit and First Nations Art Gallery. It has some nice artwork that would give you some visuals to help further answer your question. :)
Recognizing that unless you too can produce art, you have no place critiquing the work of others that can.
The identity of the first artist or the first art piece is difficult to determine due to the prehistoric origins of art. Some of the earliest known artworks include cave paintings, such as those found in Lascaux, France, dating back around 17,000 years. These works were likely created by early humans, but specific individuals remain unknown, as art from that time was not attributed to specific creators. Thus, the concept of the "first art piece" is more about a collective human expression rather than the work of a single artist.
Patricks first piece of work was called "Pizza" which was painted in 1495
The material comes first because it is not a person who made it. The artist is only a person that uses the material for art.
