Our 20 x 40 with a shallow & deep end needs 10 to 12 bags @ 40lbs. each at the start of each season to reach the correct ppm for our chlorine generator. I'd start with 6 and have two more handy. Y ou will need them after a heavy rain anyway... Jim

How much salt do you add to a 18x4 pool?

To determine how much salt to add to an 18x4 pool, you first need to know the pool's volume in gallons. An 18-foot diameter pool that is 4 feet deep has a volume of approximately 6,600 gallons. For a saltwater pool, a typical salinity level is around 3,000 to 3,500 parts per million (ppm), which usually requires about 40-50 pounds of salt per 1,000 gallons of water. Therefore, you would need approximately 260-330 pounds of salt for your pool.

How do you vacuum your salt water pool?

You can vacuum a salt water pool the same way you would a non salt water pool. If you are vacuuming on the filter setting, your filter will help to clean the debris out of the pool. If you are dealing with a very dirty pool and use the waste setting, you will be wasting some of the water from the pool in the process. Depending on how much water you take out and need to refill, you will most likely need to add some salt back in to get your salt level back to normal operating levels.
