Quite possibly one of the connections into or out of the pump are not tight enough. If it's leaking out of the motor, chances are the motor housing has been breached and/or the impeller casing.
No, not if the filter is set to backwash or waste.
Waterfall
Backwash can pin you and the boat indefinitely.
it depends on temperature of the air and where the water is coming from.
I think its a river!
Backwash is a term used by engineers when cleaning water filters or coolers they reverse the flow and wash out the filters or coolers
This is the movement of water in a wave form back to the sea
Each time I backwash my pump head, the water comes out with extreme force. It has only trickled when something was going wrong. The pump may have been drawing air or the heads were dirty. During backwashing and rinsing, the water should be coming out with force. The pump pressure should even be lower when you return to filtering. Backwash a sand filter with a multiport valve; # turn off the pump motor # Start by Rrotating the handle on the multiport valve from the FILTER position to the BACKWASH position, Usually in the opposite direction) # Start the pump, Usually there is a clear bubble on the sand filter and you will see dirty water running through it, Wait until this water starts to run clear. otherwise keep an eye on the water exiting if you can until it runs clear. this can take about 2 to 4 minutes. # Shut off pump motor and move multiport valve handle to the RINSE position .Run on rinse for 15 - 30 seconds. once again you can keep an eye on the clear bubble to see the water clear if you have one. # Shut off pump motor again and move multiport valve handle back to the FILTER position # Now start pump again on and take note of the lower pressure. when the pressure gets too high again it is time to backwash once again.
Check to see if your water level is below the skimmer line after vaccuming. Without water you can burn the motor up. Can you turn the filter to waste? jsboyles@shentel.net
Heater core leaking?
check the fuse first
