This is water CHEMISTRY, so there could be multiple reasons. For starters, it could be iron or copper present in the water, unfiltered particulates, or a reaction between the high chlorine and said metals. The first step is to balance your water: get the pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness to correct levels (7.4; 100 ppm; 240 ppm, respectively) - in that order. Allow the chlorine to drop to a normal level (2.0 to 5.0 ppm). Run your filter 24/7 until it's clear (even after it's clear!). If that alone doesn't clear it, add a liquid "metal removing agent" to "chelate" the metals.

How do you maintain chlorine in clear pool with minimal green algae by skimmer boxes after trying everything?

Chlorine is less likely to dissapate when proper levels of cyanuric acid are present. If chlorine levels are within limits and algae is still present test for ortho phosphates and treat if neccessary. Brush the affected areas (and setps & walls) regularly.

What color do you get when you mix purple and green.?

When you mix the colors green and purple, you would get a brownish-purple color. I think this would happen because the green adds a bit to the purple, which sort-of makes a brownish-black color. But when you look deeper and closer towards the color, the color starts to advance to a little shadeness of purplr again, but the brownish-black color still remained. I also did this on an art pallet at art class, then I got in trouble. Joking about the last part, though!

What do you do if you just filled a above ground pool and it turns green right away so i shocked it twice then put algaecide and chlorine tabs and still is the chorine is off the charts?

Your pH is high and chlorine is low?

To lower pH, you can add pH decreaser (such as sodium bisulfate) following manufacturer's instructions. To raise chlorine levels, you can add liquid chlorine or chlorine tablets according to the pool size and current chlorine levels. Retest after a few hours and adjust as needed.

After shocking the pool four times this week your chlorine level still registers zero My Cyanuric Acid levels are 150 ppm How can you bring the chlorine level up?

What are the disadvantages of chlorine?

Exposure to high levels of chlorine can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory system. Overuse of chlorine can also create harmful disinfection byproducts, such as chloramines and trihalomethanes, which have been linked to adverse health effects. Additionally, chlorine can react with organic matter to form potentially toxic compounds in water.

DOES STILL Water contain chlorine?

It is possible for still water to contain chlorine if it has been treated with chlorine for disinfection purposes. However, if it is natural still water from a spring or well, it is unlikely to contain chlorine unless it has been contaminated with chlorine from other sources.

Used baking soda and chlorine tablets and pool is still green what do you do now?

baking soda actually raises pH so do not use. check pH level and get that straight first.

What is the difference between free chlorine and total chlorine?

Combined chlorine is when the chlorine molecule has attached itself to other molecules in water. In other words it has "combined" with something else in the water. Those could be iron, manganese, ammonia or other things depending on the source water. Free chlorine is the molecules that are "free" in the water to do the disinfection.
