Some air pistols are designed to shoot both, but you have to read the owners manual to determine if your pistol can shoot either. It the manual says to just use one or the other then don't ruin the pistol by trying to force it to shoot the wrong projectile.
No. Pellet rifles are designed to shoot all brands of pellets. But remember pellets, unlike BBs come in different sizes. So if your rifle shoots .177 pellets, only shoot .177 size pellets not .22 size or any other size. Never shoot BB's in a pellet rifle unless it is designed to shoot pellets and BB. It will say in the instructions if it can shoot both. Also remember that pellets also come in different weights. Light pellets will fly faster but are not as accurate as heavier pellets that fly slower but straighter and have more knock down punch.
Some pistols and rifles are designed to shoot BBs or pellets. Higher powered break-barrel rifles are pellets-only, with rifled barrels and high pressures.Airsoft guns are completely different and only shoot little white airsoft pellets.
It depends on the air rifle. All 177 air pistols and rifles fire 177 ammo. Some will fire, only pellets. Some can only fire, BB's. But, some can shoot both. And. Brake barrel air weapons can fire, special darts. But, DON'T, fire darts through a rifled barrel. You can do it but it can damage it. Only through a smooth bore barrel. When in doubt, check with the maker of YOUR gun.
Some BB guns are designed to shoot BB and pellets, but not all BB guns shoot pellets. The ones that shoot both usually can shoot several BB without reloading but only shoot a single pellet at a time and you have to reload each pellet between each shot.
Every Pellet gun has to shoot over 200 shots before it is broke in. And then you have to try different pellets to find one that fits the situation, every gun is different. However I suggest starting with H&N, Beeman Kodiak or JSB. They all have different pellets to choose from (Look for Match grade pellets.) I do suggest you stay away from the Gamo Raptor pellets. They may be fast but they are too light and are effected by crosswind.
Pistols were light, and effective. They were a nice close quarter weapon, good for short range killing. They were easy to reload, shoot, and carry. Most soldiers and all officers had a pistol. The Germans used pistols for quick, brutal executions, so they served many convienient purposes.
if you have a high budget you can buy several air rifles with different fps (adjust the scopes of course) and shoot 5 pellets with each rifle at a target at 20-30mand then look at the groupings you will notice after a certain speed the grouping will be more wide spread(Make sure all the rifles use the same pellets)
It all depends on the weight of the pellet (Pellets come in different weights) Also wind and air density have an effect on the trajectory. Manufactures never post the range of the pellet they just say 1000 yards.
Air RIFLES would be a better choice for pest control. Air pistols generally have smaller powerplants, shorter barrels, and are harder to aim. That said, a Crosman 1377 or 1322 multi-pump can generate enough energy for rats, mice, and gophers.
The Normal, Silver, and Golden slingshots all shoot the same distance, but the Silver shoots two pellets, and the Golden shoots three
All you can do is use lighter pellets. Try soaking your pellets in Pelgun oil. Put a small sponge in your pellet tin and a few drops of Crosman pelgun oil in with the pellets. His will help lubricate the pellets.
There are four different basic designs for air gun pellets, All the others are a combination of these pellets. 1. Dome shaped pellets are considered the universal all around pellet 2. Pointed shaped pellets are for distance 3. Flat shaped pellets are called "waddcutters" they are for target practice because they leave a clean hole in the target 4. Hollow point pellets. These are used for hunting because they deform on impact and have a lot of knockdown power. Pellets also come in different weights. The lighter the pellet, the faster it will travel but it is more effected by crosswind. The heaver to pellet, the slower it will travel, but will fly straighter and have more knockdown impact than a light weight pellet.
