Your rifle has been sighted-in and test-fired at the factory. Due to individual shooting characteristics, however, sighting should be range verified.
1.) Vertical Correction (Elevation)
To raise the point of impact, raise the rear sight, by moving the sight elevator rearward. To lower the point of impact, lower the rear sight, by moving the sight elevator forward. The sight can be raised and lowered by moving the stepped elevator forward and back with your thumb.
To move the point of impact to the left, tap the rear sight base to the left. To move
the point of impact to the right, tap the rear sight base to the right.
Windage adjustments to the rear sight can be made by gently tapping the dovetail portion of the rear sight in the desired direction.

To remove the rear sight from a Marlin Model 75, first ensure the firearm is unloaded and safe to handle. Pretty close. The CC440 was the version made for and sold by Coast to Coast stores. It has a slightly different sight, wood is a little different.
gunpartscorp.com You can also search for Marlin model 80 parts seeing as how the J.C. Higgins is a clone of the model 80 and Marlin is easier to get parts for. I got a model 80 elevation key for the rear sight from the sight and looked and fit exactly the same as the old one I lost off my J.C.
The Marlin model 80 was made from 1934 to 1939. Later improvements of the original model 80 such as the 80E, 80C, 80DL & 80G were made all the way up to 1965. There were many sight & stock configurations giving the rifle a different model number suffix.
