Well, MINE was made in 1958. If you want to know what year YOUR 552 was made, look for the 2 or 3 letter code on the barrel. Left side, just forward of the receiver. Letters are very small. Once you find them, google "blackpowderx Remington" to find the Remington collectors website, with the barrel code table. "Blackpowderx" was the Remington system of dating- B=1, L=2, A=3 C=4, etc.

Just guessing- since you did not give us a brand name- Remington 552? If so, Remington;s are dated by a letter barrel code- 2 or 3 very small letters, LEFT side of barrel, just ahead of reciever. Please repost with BRAND of rifle, and if Remington, the letters.
