Send me photos of it (and of markings, if possible) to the email address listed on my bio page, and I should be able to identify it for you.
If you're in the US, all importers are required to put an importer's mark on any firearm they import. For the sake of discretion, most put this on the barrel somewhere. The markings should indicate - at the very least - the cartridge it fires, and the country of origin.
There are several different models of Mauser rifle. Can you do anything to identify the model, arsenal it was manufactured at, and/or the nationality of the rifle? That it was made in 1946 does nothing to answer this question.

The Mauser es340b was a single shot .22 long rifle. It was made too look and feel like a Mauser 98K. It is not a sniper rifle. It is a target rifle.
Best left to a Mauser trained gunsmith
This rifle (Mauser Model 2000) is worth $350 in excellent condition.

Please rephrase and post the COMPLETE question. Mauser manufactured a number of firearms - pistols and rifles both - in a number of different calibres. If what you have is a Mauser rifle, you are free to send me an email (address is in my profile), and we can identify the model and which nation it was manufactured for - from there, we can determine the calibre.
It means the action of the rifle was made by Mauser or copied by someone.
A Mauser!
Mauser
