How much 2o worth
My references do not list a Pointer model. High Standard was a gun manufacturer in Conneticut, and made several pump, auto and over/under shotguns. Company ceased operations in 1984. Many of the Sear J C Higgins shotguns were made by High Standard, and the Flite-King model was one of their best known. Good shotguns. Not real pricy, not a lot of collector interest, but decent shooters.

Both were High Standard Flite King shotguns. They are similar, but from different time periods. Very nice shotguns, not very pricey.
In 1967, Sears marketed its 20 gauge shotguns under the JC Higgins brand, which were manufactured by various companies, most notably by High Standard and Savage. These shotguns were often sold as affordable options for hunters and sport shooters. The JC Higgins line was known for its reliability and value during that era.
Your shotgun 583 .22 was made in 1952 by High Standard Manufacturing for Sears. These are very good shotguns it is worth about 100 to 150 dollars depending on condition and who's buying it.
Yes, 20 gauge is the second most common gauge for shotguns in the last few decades.

The shotgun in question was made in late '47 or early in '48. It was actually made by High-Standard. Their version of this shotgun was called the Mod. 200. High Standard sold no shotguns at the time the 583.53 was made - probably in the late 1940's The High Standard model 200 was a late 1960's model but did have a few common parrts with many of the models 20's and 21's http://www.histandard.info/PDF/Sears%20Shotguns.pdf
