yeah you can call ur police station and they'll run the serial number for you im pretty sure.. or a pawn shop maybe
No. You won't be returned a firearm which has the serial number removed.
Have the police run the serial number.
Sorry- there IS no website where you can positively determine that a firearm is not stolen. Law enforcement uses the NCIC system, but that is NOT available to private persons. Local law enforcement MAY be willing to run the serial number of the gun through NCIC, but will need to have possession of the gun while doing it. In case it IS stolen, they have it.
Every firearm has a unique serial number. Before purchase - have the number checked by law enforcement agencies. If the seller is genuine - they'll let you note the serial number without having to buy the gun first !
hmm... if you have found a firearm out and about then you should take it to thenearest copshop to have the serial number checked.
When a stolen firearm is entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) it remains on that records until it is recovered, and removed from the database.Added: The above response is correct BUT - it does not answer the original question. A stolen firearm will be entered into NCIC IF the complainant is able to supply the firearm's serial number.
No.
Look up the manufacturer website and type in your Serial Number.
Contact your local police. If it has been reported stolen to the police they can find out.
Run for what? If you are seeking to determine if a firearm is stolen, there is no website open to the public that contains that information. Check with local law enforcement, and see if they can check for you. If you are seeking age, then it depends on the make- some have data available at their company website, some do not.
No- because that is in a database not open to the public. However, a law enforcement officer CAN access that information. They will want to have the firearm in hand when they do it, in the event it IS stolen, they will return it to the rightful owner.
Look on the weapon. If this is an instance of a stolen firearm, and you need the serial number for reporting, there are a couple different ways you might be able to find it. If you have a case the firearm came with (particularly with handguns), the number could be on a tag on the case. If you remember when and where you bought it, the shop you bought it from should be able to pull up those records.
