What is a Savage Model 77b worth with something that looks like it may be a silencer on the end?
A little more description, please. I can't locate a Savage Model 77 in the Blue Book. If it is a rifle, the thing on the end is probably a flash-hider, and if it is a shotgun it is probably an adjustable choke. IF it is a silencer and you are in the US, contact the nearest ATF agent to get your 10 year vacation in a federal "resort." In California and a few other places, even having a flash-hider or threads on the barrel to screw one on can turn some hunting rifles into evil assault weapons.

I have a savage model 77B pump shotgun and the thing on the end is certantly an adjustable choke it has 3 settings; full, modified, and improved. Full makes the widest pattern, and improved makes the smallest, with modified being some where in between.
Slight correction: Full makes smallest. Improved makes widest.
Full for longer range.
Improved for closer.

Since Meriden stopped production in 1918 the firing pin will have to be made. The model 15 was made from a savage patent so you might be able to adapt a firing pin from an early model savage rifle. I saw a picture of the model 15 on the web and it looks a lot like the savage model 29 that was made in 1929-1933.

If your model 400 is a semi auto shotgun, with a squarish back to the receiver (something like the Browning Auto-5) these were made for Western Auto by Savage/Stevens/Springfield, and should cross reference to the Mdl 745. The e-commerce side of gunpartscorp.com has a schematic for the Savage 745/ 745C, see if that looks like yours. They DO have some parts available if needed.

Looks like Savage built them. Their model SB100B. Hawthorne model name was "Vulcan". Parts are available from Numrich Gun Parts. Good to see someone else owns one.

There is not a real reason why your Stevens Savage model 311A was stamped two times in the same spot. It was probably a mistake and it was only suppose to be stamped once. If most of the other stamping looks like that, it was probably something that happened in the factory.
