Air soft fires a 6mm or similar size plastic ball or BB. It may sting if it hits you. But protective clothing will protect you in most cases. The FPS (Foot Per Second) usually runs between 200 FPS to 500 FPS Hence the word Air Soft. Air Soft guns and rifles usually have a red or orange tip to let you know it's an Air Soft air gun.
Air Rifles are similar in appearance (NO Red Tip) but that's where the similarity ends. Air rifles have a FPS range of 250 FPS to over 1,500 FPS. They fire a metal projectile usually a BB or Pellet. BB guns / Rifles usually fire up to 600 FPS but Pellet guns / Rifles go way beyond that. Pellet air rifles also come in larger sizes than the .177 caliber BB they also come in .177, .20, .22, .25, 9mm, 357 Cal, 45 cal and 50 caliber. The 50 caliber is about as large as the end of a mans thumb. These are used for medium hunting and some large game hunting. Where the smaller caliber is used for target practice. The range on an Air gun far exceeds the range of an Air Soft rifle.
Air soft guns won't kill you but an air rifle is capable of mortal damage. Most people stick with the BB gun or smaller pellet rifle for fun and simple back yard target practice. You will find hunters and professional target shooters prefer the higher end air guns / rifles. A professional Olympic Match grade air rifle will cost you around $2750 for starters.
Soft-air is a rip off of Air-soft
stingers are Airsoft guns
There are too many types: airguns that are used in the auto industry, Air Rifles, Air pistols, Air soft guns.
Not much. They both make inexpensive to very expensive air rifles.
If you are talking about things like M4 and M16 then those are just the names of different types of rifles.
Most airsoft rifles are real life looking and airsplat.com is a great online retailer.
Air soft is the common term, soft air is the correct name.
Rim Fire bullets (Rifles or guns) require a firing pin that strikes the bullet casing and the resulting explosion of gunpowder in the shell fires the bullet out of the barrel. Air guns have NO firing pin. An air valve or piston forces air or C02 into the barrel behind the pellet or BB and this shoots the projectile out of the barrel.
Yes because I live in Michigan and I have laws about that and they let me.
An automatic electric gun would be the best
That depends. If you are planning on killing rodents then the airgun is better. But if you are planning on shooting other people then the air-soft gun is better. -Jeff
Both are powered by Air or CO2. But a bb gun fires a bb. (.177 caliber) BB guns and Rifles traditionally have smooth bore barrels. Air Rifles (I assume you are asking about Pellet firing air rifles) fire .177 pellets usually through a "rifled bore barrel" giving the pellet more spin and causing it to travel straighter. Pellet Air Rifles come in .177 cal, but also come in 20, 22, 25, 45 and 50 Caliber pellets. They tend to be more powerful than the bb rifles. Crosman, Daisy Beeman and RWS are just a few of the air gun makers who make bb guns and Pellet Air Rifles.
