Maybe Country Gunsmith can narrow the age down a bit from the serial, but IJ made shotguns that match that description from 1870 to 1978. I don't know if IJ serialized their shotguns before it was required by law in 1968, but most manufacturers did not. If it's relatively new and in excellent condition, it could be worth $100 as a shooter. If it's really old it will bring about the same as a mantle decoration, especially if that outside hammer is mounted on the side. It was manufactured in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. -- IJ Shotguns -- Iver Johnson serialized their shotguns WAY back. Unfortunately, there does seem to be much rhyme or reason to the serialization, and dating an IJ is difficult without having it in hand and even then only generally. sales@countrygunsmith.net
