The Lefever Arms Co., Inc. that made the Nitro Special Double and Western Arms Corp. that made the Long Range Double began as seperate corporations that were owned by the same folks that owned Ithaca Gun Co., and the guns were built in the Ithaca factory. The early Nitro Specials were marked "Lefever Arms Co., Inc., Ithaca, N.Y." and the early Long Range Doubles were marked "Western Arms Corp., Ithaca, N.Y." Around 1933, they lumped the brands together and the later Lefevers were marked "Lefever Arms Branch, Ithaca Gun Co., Inc." and the Long Range Doubles were marked "Western Arms Branch Ithaca Gun Co., Inc." The Western Arms Long Range Double had a frame made of malleable iron. These were utility grade shotguns- value in 95% condition is about $225.
