That's a good question, but would need a lot more info to answer it. Old gun values are based on many things, but most importantly condition! An 1897 is a nice little levergun, and very desireable in excellent condition. Prices for standard guns can vary as much as 5-6 times as much for an excellent one, vs. a well used average gun. In addition, special order features such a pistol grip stocks, checkering, deluxe wood, or engraving will greatly affect the value. It's impossible to judge your guns value without good pictures, or a hands on inspection. Vall

Roughly 1900. Since Marlin mixed serial numbers between models on the early levers it can be hard to pin down exactly. As to caliber, look on the top flat of the barrel. sales@countrygunsmith.net

The caliber should be marked on the barrel near the receiver. The Model 39 is a 22LR
