Exactly how is the pistol marked? 9mm browning serial number 72C44338
Stevens was in business from 1864-1950. They did not have a "pocket pistol" model, but DID make a "pocket rifle" model from 1869-1916. Am aware of no specific production data based on serial numbers.
It should be marked as to where it was made.
The caliber should be marked on the slide.
Most likely a ROHM
Go to the library and look for Flayderman's Antique American Firearms. You should be able to identify your pistol from the pictures and descriptions in the Stevens chapter.
Most likely ROHM or RG.
The stevens Model 35 offhand shotgun(even though it is listed as a pistol) was made during the years 1923-1935 in .410 gauge.I do not have a model production breakdown by years with serial numbers though.Maybe savage/stevens might have more info at the savage arms web site?It would be worth a try.
Sorry- but that is not enough information to answer. Serial numbers are NOT unique to one maker. Post again with ALL information marked on the gun, and we will try to help.
All my records indicate that stevens did not make a model 337 shotgun. If your stevens shotgun is marked U337 under the receiver, this would be a serial number, not a model number.
if made 1968 or before it wasn't required to have one if it does it will be clearly marked on the barrel
Herbert Schmidt Company.
