This gun was made in 1975
Value is too difficult to be accurate without seeing the gun. Condition which includes the amount of original finish and original configuration will determine value. Condition and age is also a factor. Auto 5's with recoil pads (other than Mag 12's) poly-chokes and compensators will reduce value. Recommend taking it to a gun shop for appraisal.
You can also do your own investigation by looking at other models being sold that are in the same condition as yours. Try the gunbroker.com or a periodical called "The Gun List"
You can also reference the Blue Book of Gun Values which can be purchased on line at various retailers
I know you were descriptive about condition, but I cant quote a price for some of these guns. 1975 was the last year that the a5 was made in Belgium, some were already being made in Japan. I have seen some that were new in the box made in Belgium with a Jap barrel, and no they are not desired collectables. Some in 75 had less engraving and so on. So please have it appraised by a qualified dealer. thx
Around $1200-$1500 in excellent condition.
Grade 1 standard engraving $1200-2200 for private sale
Browning Choke Markings "* " = full "*- " = improved modified "** " = modified "**-" = improved cylinder "**$" = skeet "***" = cylinder
Improved Modified.
OEM from Browning. Anything else will require a gunsmith.
It's just referred to as the placebo effect, where a persons condition or perceived condition has improved after the treatment.
A model 11 in good condition will bring $500 in todays market. If it has a poly-choke then deduct up to $150. 1948 was the last year of production. The Remington model 11 is a later/improved version of the Browning A5. Both great guns.
What is the question?
1 notch - full 2 - improved modified 3 - modified 4 - improved clinder 5 - skeet no notch - cylinder
BROWNING CHOKES AND THEIR CODES (ON REAR LEFT-SIDE OF BARREL)'*' designates full choke (F).'*-' designates improved modified choke (IM).'**' designates modified choke (M).'**-' designates improved cylinder choke (IC).
Lacking a slug barrel, improved cylinder works best for slugs.
