Approximately $150. The actual amount, though, will depend on how much someone is willing to pay for it. Some factors like: barrel length, age or modification number, and finish may also affect the value!
yeah if you google pinned and recessed you can find a few forums with people talking about it. it seems to have been in the 80s right before they changed the design.
I paid $425 for a working model 19 pinned and recessed with 90% of the blue, and pachmayer grip.
@ 1982.
100-400 USD
Gas ring changed from yoke to cylinder, 6" bbl introduced, Cylinder counter bore and pinned barrel eliminated, cylinder length changed to 1.62", New yoke retention system/radius stud package.
The S&W model 28 production started in 1954 and ended in 1986. S&W S' series ended around 1970. Your particular weapon was made between 1958/1959. The older models like yours are more desirable to collectors. The barrel is pinned and the cylinder is recessed. Nice gun. I have one also. It is S202xxx. It was made in late 1958.
Sounds to me that you have a smith and Wesson mod-12.These fine .38 special revolvers are selling for 200-300 dollars depending on the overall condition of the gun.
The 29-3 was the first of the M 29 revolvers without the pinned barrel and recessed cylinders. It was transitional to the somewhat heavier lugged "hunting" versions that followed. The 29-3 began to incorporate the "endurance" package that was brought in completely on the 29-4. It was produced from the early 80s through about 87-88.
Early S&W revolvers (up until sometime in the 1970's, I believe) had a cross pin through the barrel just forward of the forcing cone to prevent the barrel from unscrewing. The cross pin was deleted from the design as not needed.
The sn you have listed would be appropriate for a Model 60 made in @1974.
All were pinned
