I paid $425 for a working model 19 pinned and recessed with 90% of the blue, and pachmayer grip.
Approximately $150. The actual amount, though, will depend on how much someone is willing to pay for it. Some factors like: barrel length, age or modification number, and finish may also affect the value!
I can not give the exact date of manufacture, however, the model 66-1 was produced from 1977 (change of gas ring from yoke to cylinder) until 1982 (in 1978 the 6" barrel was introduced). In 1982 came the 66-2 (Eliminate cylinder counterbore and pinned barrel; slight change in cylinder lenght to 1.62"
Gas ring changed from yoke to cylinder, 6" bbl introduced, Cylinder counter bore and pinned barrel eliminated, cylinder length changed to 1.62", New yoke retention system/radius stud package.
100-400 USD
The S&W model 28 production started in 1954 and ended in 1986. S&W S' series ended around 1970. Your particular weapon was made between 1958/1959. The older models like yours are more desirable to collectors. The barrel is pinned and the cylinder is recessed. Nice gun. I have one also. It is S202xxx. It was made in late 1958.
model stamped inside cylinder housing near barrel.
The 29-3 was the first of the M 29 revolvers without the pinned barrel and recessed cylinders. It was transitional to the somewhat heavier lugged "hunting" versions that followed. The 29-3 began to incorporate the "endurance" package that was brought in completely on the 29-4. It was produced from the early 80s through about 87-88.
The sn you have listed would be appropriate for a Model 60 made in @1974.
This is a quirky gun. The barrel and "cylinder" are one piece. To open for loading, push the cylinder to the right. You'll find that the barrel and cylinder both swing out so you can load.
