The 8G stands for Lightweight 12 made in 1958. The correct barrel address for this gun should be St Louis Mo. / The slug barrel was not introduced until 1962, so it is an extra barrel with a later address such as St Louis & Montreal, or Morgan Utah. Value depends all on condition. A two barrel set can bring a premium when the gun is over 96% condition. If yours has normal wear and finish loss, it may be better to sell the slug barrel separate.

St Louis Arms was a trade name used for Crescent Arms shotguns distributed by HD Folsom and sold by Shapleigh Hardware Co. of St. Louis, MO. If you can determine the comparable model, Crescent parts are still widely available. Good luck.

This is a standard weight 16ga auto 5. It was made in 1962. The barrel should read: Browning Arms Company St. Louis Mo. & Montreal P.Q. If the barrel only reads St Louis and not Montreal, then the barrel is not original to the gun when it was sold.
A letter from Browning will remove all doubt. Could be 57 or 67
Sorry, the Light Weight Twelve was not made until 1953, and the gun was never made in St. Louis. Post the serial number and we can tell you what you have.
