Kharikatana, also known as "Kharijite" or "Kharijism," refers to a historical sect that emerged in early Islam, primarily during the first civil war (Fitna) in the 7th century. They were initially supporters of Ali ibn Abi Talib but later broke away due to disagreements over leadership and governance, particularly after the arbitration following the Battle of Siffin. Kharijites advocated for a radical interpretation of Islam, emphasizing that any Muslim, regardless of lineage, could be a leader as long as they upheld Islamic principles. Their ideology led to significant conflicts with both Sunni and Shia Muslims.
