The Savage Springfield 745R 12 gauge shotgun was first built in the early 1960s. It was part of a series of shotguns produced by Savage Arms, known for their affordable and reliable firearms. First you have to determine what kind of "Springfield" you have. It could be a US military arm from the Springfield Armory dating to sometime before the Civil War or a new sporting arm from Springfield, Inc., but most likely it is a shotgun made by J. Stevens Arms or the Stevens Division of Savage Arms.

The "Springfield Automatic Shotgun" is a clone of the Browning A5 produced by Savage/Springfield. The Browning A5 is credited as being the first semi automatic shotgun design ever produced. It is a recoil operated, tube magazine fed gun with a reciprocating barrel. It has a 5 round capacity, one in the chamber and 4 in the magazine. Recoil is managed and harnessed by a system of friction rings and spring that can be set up in different configurations to maximize operation with different powered loads.
It was made in Westfield, Mass. around 1968. It was the first of these to have a 3" chamber.
I would first look at the numrich gun parts corp. They can be found on the web.
The first Springfield Trapdoor rifles, built right after the civil war and often converted from the older Springfield rifled muskets, were .50 caliber, but the later versions were .45
I also own springfield however it is a 5100. Now does savage, Stevens, or springfield make this sxs it is a little confusing, because there seems to be a few mft dates 1915 and post ww11 1950? helpAnswerThere are several different models of Springfield doubles, but they are all pretty much the same guns. Any utility double barrel in working condition is worth $150-$250. Less if it is a basket case and more if it is truly like new or 20 gauge or smaller. There is currently a Springfield Inc. and of course there was the US Springfield Armory, but neither of these had anything to do with Springfield shotguns. It was a trade name used first by Crescent probably as early as 1910. Stevens was bought by Savage in the 1920's and continued to make the Stevens tradenames as a semi-independent subsidiary. In the early 30's the Stevens division of Savage bought Crescent and several other small manufacturers and began making most of the Crescent trade names, too. The Springfield name was discontinued in 1948.
The Duryea brothers built the first gasoline powered car in 1893 in a portion of Springfield, Massachusetts that is now located in Chicopee, Mass.
To install a trigger in a Springfield 940E .410 shotgun, first ensure the shotgun is unloaded and safe. Remove the stock by unscrewing the retaining screws, then take out the trigger assembly from the receiver. Carefully replace the old trigger with the new one, ensuring all components are correctly aligned. Finally, reassemble the shotgun by reversing the disassembly process and ensure it functions properly before use.
