The Hercules shotgun was made by Iver Johnson (not Stevens, which is a totally different company) from 1918-1943, although the Hercules name was dropped in the late 30's.
It's really a Stevens model 94. Hercules was a Montgomery Ward brand name. Hercules was made by Iver Johnson from 1918-1943. I have a Montgomery Ward Hercules 16 ga. double. Does anyone know who made it. There are no brand or model numbers.SN X76777

I'm not sure of the value of your shotgun. I have a Montgomery Wards Hercules, double barrel shotgun, with external hammers. With all the research I have done it is a Stevens 217. I have been looking for a set of barrels for this gun. Can you describe your gun to me. Petter
My guide says yes...the "Hercules Grade Double" discontinued in 1946.

To determine the age of a 12 gauge Hercules grade double barrel shotgun manufactured by Iver Johnson with the serial number 17365, you would typically need access to the company's production records. However, Iver Johnson's shotguns were produced primarily in the early to mid-20th century, with many models manufactured between the 1900s and 1950s. Based on the serial number, this shotgun is likely to be over 70 years old. For an exact year, consulting a firearms expert or reference specific to Iver Johnson shotguns would be necessary.
The value of a 1914 Springfield double barrel shotgun made by J Stevens depends on its condition. This model in excellent condition is valued between 599.99 and 699.99 as of 2014.
