These shotguns were made from 1926-1945.Stevens did not keep records as to the year of production by serial numbers.
The Stevens Model 58 Salvage Shotgun with no serial number was probably manufactured in the early 1940's in Chicopee Falls MASS. It's value could range from $400.00 to $ 1500.00 depending on condition. If it has the Chicopee Falls Mass manufacturer on the barrel a good starting point is $ 500.00 and up depending on condition.
Wall hanger.
The J Stevens Arms Co. Springfield Model 15 was manufactured in the early to mid-20th century, with patent numbers 2173676, 2223092, and 2230372 indicating a production timeframe around the late 1930s to early 1940s. Specifically, these patents were granted between 1939 and 1941, suggesting that the model was likely produced shortly thereafter.
I have the same rifle. =) From oldguns.net it looks like about 200,000 were made somewhere between 1938 and 1945.
These shotguns were made by savage/stevens between the years 1986-1989.There was no accurate records kept of the serial numbers as to year of production.
Most were made by Savage (including Stevens and Springfield) or Mossberg, a few by Noble. Many gun price books and gunparts vendors have crossover lists for model numbers.
before 1955 gun under 100 in value did not need serial numbers
Riverside Arms was a tradename used by Stevens and later by Savage. Would help to know what other markings are on the gun.
The J. Stevens Arms Co. of Chicopee Falls, Mass, introduced their Model No. 16 "Crackshot" rifle in 1900. This was also sold with markings as The Keystone, The .22 Marvel or The .22 Spencer. Serial numbers were not required on rifles until the 1968 Gun Control Act.
No. There was no manufacturer named Central Arms Co. Guns with this name were made by J. Stevens, Crescent, Davenport, Pieper, and probably others. Many will not have serial numbers.
