I do not own an 1894 but I have successfully loaded the 265gr for my .44 Rossi 65SRC and the results are very goodhttp://wsp44.wordpress.com/
No, you can not. The 44 Special can be fired in any firearm chambered and marked for the 44 Magnum cartridge. The 444 Marlin is a rifle cartridge (much longer than either the 44 Spl or 44 Mag), and is much more powerful. The 44 Spl and 44 Mag. were designed as handgun cartridges, but have been adapted to a small number of lever-action carbines. Bert H.
If it's a MARLIN, 100-300 USD.
a billion dollars
if the rifle was manufactured in 1894 it would be black powder.
The 2 letter prefix of AC identifies your Marlin as being made in the year 1967.
Your J C Higgins model 44 was made for sears by the marlin firearms company. The marlin model number is model 57M.The marlin model 57,and 57M were made during the years 1959-1965.
The rifle that you are describing is a Marlin model 1894,not a model 1893.The model 1894 was the only model of Marlin produced as a baby carbine in the caliber 44-40Win.IT was produced with a 18in barrel and a half magazine. These were made from 1894-1934.The value of these baby carbines range from 490-1,400 dollars for a rifle showing between 10%-60% of its original finish, and a good bore.
