Americans can own guns per the 2nd amendment on the Bill of Rights.
Though there are several versions and interpretations of the text, it basically says that it is "the right of the People to keep and bear arms and shall not be infringed."
It was made an amendment because the common people need a form of self-defense when a well regulated militia (the police) cannot always be everywhere at once and at every second of the day.
@ 1/2 of the population does not own a firearm.
Yes, Americans have full rights to own and bear arms, its engraved in the U.S. Constitition.

No. They were slaves
Americans own all sorts of guns. Sigs, Glocks, Smith and Wessons, and just about every other brand available.
No.
Clearly ordinary guns have no will of their own, but guns can cause death that is accidental or that results from carelessness.
That's an extremely difficult question to answer with any accuracy. Depending on who you ask, there are between 150 million and 275 million guns in the U.S. but there is no national registration and most states don't require registration, so there is no way to really know exactly how many people own guns.
It is estimated that the number is between 35 and 45%. Since most states do NOT require that guns be registered, it will have to remain an estimate.
Because the South had African American Slaves, and they worried that Freed African Americans with guns might start a revolt, similar to Nat Turners rebellion which resulted in the deaths of a lot of people who kept slaves.
the native americans wanted their guns
