Before the war there was some progress on the social fronts between the high and lower class of people. The educational system before the war was starting to get popular for the lower class people and the feminist movements were also very active. Women were allowed to work and received a payment for their services. The workplaces improved their conditions for the workers and some professions like engineers were getting popular. The result of the world war caused an improvement in the acceleration of the previously named activities. There was a mood change that can be described as "Onward and upward" which kept the morale of the people high.

I think that in WWI, people were very loyal . They wanted to fight for their country. They didn't question if their leaders were right or wrong to enter the war. They just fought. Also, war was kind of built up. People had forgotten how bad war can be.

And I also think inside everyone was scared well what would you expect the nearly whole world was at war!

There was a rush to the recruiting offices, and only the very fittest and healthiest men were accepted at this stage.

The whole country seemed to be both enthusiastic for the war, and united in support of it.

There is, however, some evidence that this is an incomplete and even distorted impression. There are hints and suggestions of the fracture lines in society that would later lead to great bitterness and divisions in Australian society.
