The simple answer is ALL OF THEM. Every continent had a country involved in World War II in one form or another. And by extension Antarctica since it had bases claimed by countries involved in the war. Though Antarctica was the oinly continent that did not see any direct action in the war.
How many continents had World War II BATTLES on them and their names?
Without dispute, the main theaters of operation were in Europe, Africa and Asia.
Specifically
Europe: Nearly every country had some battles. This extended all the way across the continent to the Soviet Union (Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova, etc). It also included the Greece and Turkey, Romania for control of oil fields and access routes to the middle east's oil.
Africa: Control for the Mediterranean and control of southern Europe engulfed all of North Africa (at the time all colonies of European powers.
Asia
Middle East- Oil. Control of the Suez Canal
Sub-Continent and southeast Asia, India (Now India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, French Indochina (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam) for control of routes for Japan to get oil from Middle East.
East Asia - China, Korea, Philippines (US Territory at the time), Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore
Ociana - All the islands in the pacific between Hawaii and Japan for control of the pacific.
All those are indisputable as continents the war took place in. Now for items that would fit some people's definition of war in the continent
Australia -- The Japanese bombed the city of Darwin, Australia. This was classified and not reported until very recently. Darwin, Australia was nearly leveled. The entire north central area of Australia was evacuated in anticipation of a Japanese invasion. The allied victory of the Japanese at Guadalcanal, a key for shipping to Australia, made the planned Japanese invasion of Australia impossible.
South America -- German subs were captured, sunk just off the coast of eastern South America, or forced to neutral counties (like Uruguay) where the crews were stranded. Argentina was a hot-bed of espionage.
North America --- The Battle of the North Atlantic sometime took place right off the coast of Canada and Greenland in North America.
There were operations in Panama thwarting sabotage to the Panama Canal
There was an outright battle on one of the Aleutian Islands between the US and Japan and there were balloon bombs dropped on the Pacific Northwest by Japan. only one family as recorded casualties.
There are currently seven continents.
There is no strict definition for how many countries must be involved for a conflict to be classified as a world war. Generally, a world war involves multiple nations across different continents, significantly affecting global politics and society. The term "world war" is typically used when major powers are engaged in large-scale military conflicts, as seen in World War I and World War II. Ultimately, the scale and impact of the conflict are more important than the exact number of countries involved.
