A lot of researchers doubt whether the French Revolution was ever to be prevented during Louis XVI. Due to the enormous state debt he inherited from Louis XV, who on his turn inherited a huge state debt from Louis XIV, France was bankrupt. The people were poor and the nobility just kept spending because of the way they were acustomed to live their lives. None of them had actually thought about changing their lifestyle so a difference could have been made. They were actually seriously offended when Louis XVI suggested to let the nobility pay taxes as well, and not just the poor people. So, everybody complained about the finance problems, but nobody was willing to do something about it. The French felt they had to take matters into their own hands to make a change and to achieve equality, for they were the poorest and were paying the most! Louis XIV is actually the one to blame the revolution on, he has build Versailles and fought 4 major wars and left his successor, Louis XV, with a state debt of 400 millionFrancs! So the preventing of the revolution should have started with Louis XIV.
Seeing that some of 'The French' were the people carrying out the revolution, I presume you mean 'What could the French upper classes and the French king have done to prevent it?' Those clases could have realised that the peasants and poor townspeople were downtrodden and could have spent a little less on luxury living and thus have taxed the poor less.

The French Revolution effectively ended the royal monarchies that dominated France for centuries. Sadly this was done in a brutal and bloodthirsty manner. Many innocent people were executed. One clear negative, in terms of "democracy" was the vacuum filled by Napoleon. He was not a "royal" leader, however, dissent was not one of his priorities. He ruled as an emperor and as France's general in chief. He is one one the most controversial figures in the 19th century.
He was not a hero at all. He went too far with his revolutionary ideas. He killed thousands of people, sending them to the guillotine, just because they still believed in the monarchial system Maximilien Robespierre wanted to get rid of so desperately. He killed everybody that thought differently than him. He was the creator of the reign of terror and was eventually sent to the guillotine himself in 1794 after the French turned against him when their eyes opened and say what he had done. He didn't even have a trial, and was beheaded faced upwards.
Answer 1France has had over 20 regimes in the last three centuries. Some of the changes were inevitable, such as the French Revolution of 1789 that removed the monarchy due to the discontent of the average person. Some of those changes were not inevitable, but highly likely, such as the capitulation of Second Empire of France with the capture of Napoleon III at the Battle of Sedan instead of continuing with a new emperor, which could easily have happened if anyone was interested in preserving the Empire. Some of those changes were not even necessary, but the French people chose them, such as the revision of the Fourth Republic Constitution to create the Fifth Republic Constitution. They completely changed the government to convince Charles de Gaulle to become President, not because there was any serious flaw with the Fourth Republic Constitution.Answer 2Concerning the French Revolution of 1789, the changese were inevitable because of the horrible treatment that members of low classes were receiving. It was basically impossible for low classes to actually enjoy their lives and there was virtually no way for people born into low class families to rise to another class. The only they could, would be through marriage and all high class people thought they were too good for low class people. The government did not help this situation they didn't provide the poor with jobs, everyone had to do whatever the king wanted them to. The change in government could not be put off much longer because eventually the lower classes had to realise how unfair their lives were and how they were working so hard for so little yet the higher classes were doing basically nothing and receiving so much in return. As time went on, they finally decided they had had enough.
It was the revolt to free the prisoners of Bastille a prison and a place where weapons were kept, weapons they used to continue on with revolution. They freed Bastille because the prisoners weren't given a fair trial.

Head chopping is what they did literally during the revolution: they had people's head chopped off by a guillotine. It was done to people that did not support the revolution. During the revolution, you weren't allowed to have a different opinion than the revolutionary opinion, and when you did, you were in great danger.
