Subartic Indians tanned hides from which the hair had been removed to make moccasins, leggings, shirts, tunics, and coats. Some decorated clothing with dyed porcupine quills and beads made from seeds. Subartic natives tended to wear lightweight clothing and kept warm by setting fires when they stopped to rest. They made winter sleeping robes from rabbit skins. Because of the vast nature of their territory and food sources, they tended to move often and liked to travel light.
I think some Arctic Native Americans made some of their clothes out of reeds, but since it was really cold they mainly wore caribou, seal, and buck hides for clothing to keep them warm. Did that answer the question well enough?
