£6.6billion
Reperations were the costs of damages and property loss that were paid in World War One. It was decided in the Treaty of Versailles that Germany would pay the bill for the war reperations at a total of $33 billion dollars. This destroyed the German economy.
Germany had to pay £6600million as reperations
World War I led to World War II in the fact that after the war, all the countries signed a Treaty called the Treaty of Versailles in which Germany had to give up some land, they had to demilitarize, they had to take full blame for the war, and pay reperations to the Allied countires. From this Germany wanted revenge on the Allied countries.
Called reperations the value is equivalent to 30 trillion of todays American dollars
Treaty of Versailles (the treaty that ended world war 1) was extreamly unfair to Germany. In fact Germany was not even invited to the making of the Treaty. The Treaty stated that 1. Germany had to pay back billions in reperations to France and England. 2. Germany's army could be no more then 200,000 men. 3. Germany had to give up nearly half of it boundaries. 4. and probably the most humiliating thing for the people, Germany had to admit that they started world war 1 (which they did not). When the great depression came, along with the unpaid reperations. the crash of the economy hit German harder then most countries. To the point where People were starving in the streets. Now comes Hitler a man who promises to restore Germany's economy, land, and most important national pride. Hitler with these promises and his amazing ability to speak among large audiences quickly gains him many followers. Hitler is elected to a position of power as chancellor, and after the president of Germany dies, Hitler takes controle merging the position of supreme chancellor and president into one position and claiming himslef Führer or "Leader" of Germany taking controle of the military and Basically all of Germany. Through this we see how the unfair treatment of countries can lead to the rise of people like Hitler, and help contribute to starting the most destructive war the world has ever seen.

After the second revolutionary war, the union freed all the black slaves and gave them land from there slave master and gave them animals, as well as the south had to pay reperations to the north, so reporations had been payd by 1865.
Article 231 or the War Guilt Clause from the Treaty of Versailles signed at Versailles Palace stated that Germany and her allies were to be blamed for starting the Great War. Following on from this, Article 232 stated that Germany were to pay the allies £600million in reperations. (This was actually less than what France had originally demanded as compensation)
A lot beacuse of the reperations
The German government was made to pay reparations for damages caused the small country during the war. Reparations are, in general, payment or compensation for wrongdoing.
The treaty of Versailles which ended world war one was very unfiar to Germany. Germany had to give up a lot of land, pay reperations, and Admit they started world war one (which they didn't). Things like this and the crash of the Germany econimy helped lead to the rise of Adolf Hitler with his speaches of hope on how he will restore greater Germany, the econimy and Germany's honnor.
