∙ 7y agoThe goal of Joseph Stalin's first five year plan was to increase the crop growth in the USSR's collectivized farm system. He believed this was necessary to have foodstuffs for industrial workers. The workers would benefit by lower food costs and the farmers would benefit by having a stable government controlling farms and not rich landlords as was the case in Russia's long history.
