It never was stolen to begin with, as there was no imperial crown in India itself. It was made in England by a British jeweller, the firm of Garrard & Co. in 1911.

How did the British transform India's economy?

India's GDP of the world's wealth before the interference of the British was around 30%. All of Western Europe's GDP combined was around 22%. India was well known as the richest country in the world up about until the late 19th century when Britain started to drain India's wealth for its own use. The British completely destroyed the hard earned economy of India only to now have it become a developing nation while Britain is completely developed due to India's wealth. The British said that they came to modernize India, which in fact is very false. They came to loot and plunder the vast wealth of India for its own selfish benefit while causing devastating famines in the 1890s. When the British left, then India's GDP if the world was only 3%. So, from 1857-1947, 30%----3%, do you think Britain came to help the Indians? Or did they come steal all of its riches? It is proven that the states of India under British control for a longer period of time are poorer. Now you decide how the British transformed India's economy.

Were the British right to pass laws to reform the caste system and end Sati?

No , because the British basically used India as a source for power. They gained productions that werent found in Britian at the time. The Indians were friendly enough to let them steal, however (in my opinion) it was disrespectful to pass on laws and traditions that were made from the British.

Some of the modernization implemented by British India?

Arguably Yes, I believe The Indians Were given a flag which was a symbol of identity which i don't think they had before the British turned up. Also they were taught how to have a 'nice' British style garden (arguably a positive). Also They were Taught about new Infrastructure's that had not been introduced yet, and they were traded with For spice and Tea' and other local items the British had not yet encountered; The fairness of these trades is Highly debatable, but the British Did not just turn up steal everything, Rape and Pillage and disappear again, Eventually A British Raj was Appointed and The East India Company regulated all trade throughout the Region until India Declared Independence

Did the british steal the jewels from the taj mahal?

They actually did steal the jewels from the Taj Mahal. At the end of the British reign in India, they stole priceless jewels. On June 29, 1850, the British warship HMS Medea docked in an English port carrying a very special object from India -- the Kohinoor diamond. The priceless jewel was confiscated at the end of the Sikh War by the British and was shipped off home to be gifted to the Queen. They are now in the British Crown, waiting to be returned to it's rightful place in the Taj Mahal. The Kohinoor Diamond is still the brightest jewel in the British monarch's crown.
